Aeronautics: Flying In The "Blowtorch" Era
National Geographic

The book, Aeronautics: Flying In The "Blowtorch" Era, represents an article excerpted from the September, 1950 National Geographic Magazine issue (Volume 98 Pages 281 - 322).  The stated purpose of this article was for the National Geographic Society to give its members a clear understanding of this age of phenomenal speeds resulting from jet and rocket propulsion.  The original article highlighted the contemporary use of the new jet and rocket propulsion technologies in both a narrative and pictorial format.  Included are approximately 30 rare color photographs and 18 vintage black and white photographs.  This excerpted publication of the original National Geographic Magazine article was produced with a special "hard-back" cover which was often acquired by schools for their libraries.  This example was purchased through a school book sale in Michigan, U.S.A. and has the original school rubber stamp on the cover.  This book is 41 pages and is in excellent condition.  The author is Frederick G. Vosburgh.  Edition published in September, 1950.
