Attack #MAVHS0090
World War II
MGM/UA Home Video (Warner Brothers)

The movie, Attack, takes place in December 1944 in Europe during the last full year of World War II.  The focus of the film is on a platoon of soldiers led by Lieutenant Joe Costa, a heroic American officer who is fighting on two fronts.  On the one hand Coasta is waging a bitter war with soldiers from the German Army while on the other hand he is dealing with his Captain, a cowardly and incompetent officer who repeatedly puts Costa's soldiers in harms way without back-up support.  As rumors fly that the battle-weary infantryman from Fox Company are about to be pulled out of the front lines and sent to the rear for rest and relaxation, Nazi Germany unleashes a savage, surprise counter-attack known as the Battle of the Bulge.  While the soldiers of Fox company battle the German Panzer tanks with their powerful 88 mm cannons, Costa knows he must deal with the captain in order to prevent his inaction from killing all the soldiers in his platoon.  Eventually Costa is forced into a fateful choice: continue to risk his men's lives due to the cowardly Captain or take matters into his own hands and take the life of the captain.  This movie is full of suspense and plenty of action.  Starring Jack Palance, Eddie Albert and Lee Marvin among others.  Full screen in black and white.  Released in 1956.  Runtime 107 minutes.
