Big Jake #PHEDVD0018
Big Jake
Paramount Home Entertainment

The movie Big Jake centers on a lead character, Big Jake McCandless, who is a Western rancher in the early 20th Century in a frontier that stretches from Texas to Mexico.  By 1909, the Old West is giving way to modern times.  Against this backdrop, an outlaw gang lead by a John Fain kidnaps Big Jake's eight year old grandson from his ranch and holds him for ransom.  While the official "law" gives chase in new fangled automobiles, Big Jake saddles up with an Indian scout, a fearful dog, and a box of money which he has no intention of delievering to the outlaws.  In the end, Big Jake is a very vivid depiction of the last days of the wild frontier and the people who helped tame it.  Starring John Wayne, Richard Boone and  Maureen O'Hara among others.  Full screen in color.  Released in 1971.  Runtime 109 minutes.
