Biography: Daniel Boone
A & E Television Network

The film, Biography: Daniel Boone, tells the true story of Daniel Boone's life which has over the years been the subject of countless books, plays, movies and television shows.  The story of Daniel Boone has been told so many times that fact and fiction have merged into legend.  "Daniel Boone" returns to 18th century Kentucky to meet the boy who became an expert marksman.  It highlights the fact that during Boone's trail-blazing life he escaped Indian capture four times.  "Daniel Boone" next follows Boone as he returns to Washington D.C. to visit the wise politicians who advised United States Presidents on policies of expansion.  It is further revealed that Daniel Boone at the age of 65 moved west to Missouri to start a new life with his various creditors only a step behind in Kentucky.  Also, of note is the fact that Daniel Boone lived to the ripe old age of 85 before he passed away.  This is all the more remarkable given his many exploits and dangers of living in frontier America during the 18th and 19th centuries.  Despite the mythology surrounding his life story, Daniel Boone, with his "coon" skin hat remains America's most outstanding example of courage, leadership and independent spirit.  This program is hosted by Peter Graves.  Full screen in color.  Released in 1998.  Runtime 50 minutes.
