Originally developed in the 1950s, the Boeing CH-47 D Chinook is a twin-engine, tandem rotor heavy lift transport helicopter that has been used by the United States Army for artillery emplacement, battlefield supply and troop transport since 1980.  Equipped with the triple-hook cargo system, the CH-47 D can carry heavy payloads internally and up to 26,000 pounds externally.  Examples of externally secured heavy loads include bulldozers and a 40-foot container.  In air assault operations, the CH-47 D often serves as the primary mover of the Army’s 155 mm, M198 howitzer, 30 rounds of ammunition and an 11-man crew.  In addition to equipping many United States Army and United States Army Reserve squadrons, the Ch-47 D is utilized by both the Royal Air Force and the Royal Canadian Air Force.  The operational characteristics of the CH-47 D are as follows: 1) Top speed of just under 200 mph; 2) Range of 450 miles and 3) Service ceiling of 18,500 feet.  The CH-47 D Chinook can carry of to three 7.62 mm machine guns for defensive armament.  This Boeing CH-47 D Chinook helicopter scaled model includes the following features: 1) Authentic markings for a Boeing CH-47 D Chinook as flown by the United States Army; 2) Clear plastic cockpit and fuselage glass areas; 3) Detailed twin rotors; 4) Molded in olive drab colored plastic; 5) Recessed panel lines and 6) Illustrated assembly instructions.  The box is in new condition.  Never started and 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions inventoried.
