Creature From The Black Lagoon #USDVD0020
Creature From The Black Lagoon
Universal Studios

The classic horrow movie, Creature From The Black Lagoon, centers on a research team who while digging along the Amazon River, come across the fossilized hand of a " human fish".  That very night, the creature emerges from the swamp to kill.  Thus begins one of the more recognizable classics of the horror and sci-fi genres.  The recovered hand eventually makes its way back to the oceanographic institute and soon "good-guy" scientist David Reed, greedy scientist Mark and the beautiful girl they fight over, Kay are heading back up the Amazon River to find more fossiles.  Instead, they find the real thing and while vacillating what to do the creature falls in love with Kay.  There are a number of spectacular, creepy underwater scenes including one where Kay is swimming while the creature swims along below her transfixed by her beauty.  The pounding musical score was written by a team of composers including Henry Mancini and only adds to the suspense at key points in the movie.  Starring Richard Carlson, Richard Denning and Julie Adams among others.  Full screen in black and white.  Released in 1954.  Runtime 79 minutes.
