Pre-Civil War
Walt Disney Home Video

The movie, Davy Crockett: King Of The Wild Frontier, centers on the life and times of the legendary frontiersman, Davy Crockett.  As has been pointed out many times. there has never been a "folk hero" quite like Davy Crockett who as legend has it "grinned-down" a bear and fought an Indian Chief in a Tomahawk duel.  Davy Crockett was also famous for his stand at the Alamo in Texas against the Mexican dictator and general Santa Anna and his troops.  This action-packed movie was so popular when it came out in the 1950s that it led to 10 million children sporting coonskin caps and singing "The Ballad Of Davy Crockeet" which topped the nation's Hit Parade for 13 weeks.  As Walt Disney himself was qouted as saying, "the story of Davy Crockett, with its entertaining blend of drama, humor and adventure, will always be a colorful reflection of the frontier spirit".  Watching this film is sure to bring back fond memories for viewers who recall watching this film for the first time at a Saturday matinee.  Starring Fess Parker and Buddy Ebsen among others.  Full screen in color.  Released in 1955.  Runtime 93 minutes.
