The movie, Dial M For Murder, is Director Alfred Hitchcock's screen version of Frederick Knott's stage hit of the same name.  This movie is a tasty blend of elegance and suspense.  It centers on a character named Tony Wendice, his wife Margot and her lover Mark Halliday.  Early on in the movie it is revealed to the viewer that Tony is aware that his wife has had an affair with Mark.  Tony chooses to bide his time until Halliday is back in town.  He then places his plan in order.  He summons a shady character named Charles Alexander Swann and reveals that he knows his secrets but also is willing to share the insurance proceeds should his wife meet an untimely death.  When Swann agrees to dispatch Wendice's wife, the countdown begins for her death sentence.  Wendice conveniently goes to a club with Halliday then excuses himself to make the call that will set in motion Margot's death.  In a turn of events, however, it is the hired killer who is murdered and Margot survives.  This forces Wendice to cover his tracks and in so doing he tries to frame his wife for the intruder's murder.  Halliday does not buy this line nor does the  police inspector which leads to a surprise ending.  Starring Grace Kelly, Ray Milland and Robert Cummings among others.  Full screen in color.  Released in 1955.  Runtime 109 minutes.
