F-8 E Crusader (Jet Commando)
Military Aircraft

The F-8 E Crusader was a single engined, single seat American carrier based jet fighter built by the Vought Aircraft Company.  The Crusader first flew in 1955 and was deployed to Navy carrier air groups beginning in 1957.  During its service life it served with the United States Navy, United States Marine Corps, French Navy and the Philippines Air Force.  In all over 1,250 units of all variants were produced before production ceased.  The last United States Naval Reserve Units retired the Crusader in 1999.  The Crusader had a maximum speed of slightly greater than 1,200 m.p.h., a combat radius of about 450 miles and a service ceiling of 58,000 feet.  It carried four 20 mm Colt Mk 12 cannons and various combinations of fuselage mounted missles and bombs.  This older, out-of-production kit is an accurately scaled representation of this famous American Cold War fighter.  Features included in this F-8 E Crusader model are as follows: 1) Authentic markings for a F-8 E Crusader operated by the United States Navy; 2) Clear cockpit canopy; 3) Four Sidewinder missiles; 4) Two-position landing gear and 5) Illustrated assembly instructions.  The box is in excellent condition.   Never started and 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions inventoried.
