The Messerschmitt Bf 109 G-2 was introduced during the spring and summer of 1942.  It differed from earlier Bf 109 variants primarily in that it had a more powerful Daimler Benz DB 605 A engine.  Unfortunately, while possessing a larger engine, it also caried additional weight due to increased fire power and equipment which resulted in a serious deterioration in the fighter's flying characteristics.  While lacking a pressure cabin and nitrous oxide boost, it nevertheless was deployed in the fighter reconnaissance role.  Other characteristics of this Bf 109 G variant included a number of modifications like the fitting of bomb racks, a larger tail wheel that did not retract and head armor plate that was reversed thus facing the rear-line of the canopy's swinging part.  This highly detailed 263 piece Me Bf 109 G-2 model includes the following: 1) Authentic markings for a Bf 109 G-2 flown by Gunther Rall, 8./JG52, 1942 on the Caucasia Russian front; 2) Clear multi-piece canopy; 3) Complete detailed engine; 4) Painting color guide; 5) Photo-etched parts; 6) Rubber tires; 7) Separate control surfaces; 8) Sprung landing gear and 9) Illustrated assembly instructions.  Never opened and factory sealed.
