Objective Burma #MAVHS0075
Objective Burma
World War II
MGM/UA Home Video (Warner Brothers)

The movie, Objective Burma, represents a stirring and powerful tribute to the fighting men of World War II.  The plot of the movie centers on a group of American paratroopers who are charged with the mission of parashooting behind enemy lines in Burma and once there destroying a Japanese radar installation.  Once this part of the mission is accomplished, the paratroopers are suppose to make their way to an abandoned airfield in order to be picked-up and flown back to India.  Unfortunenately, the paratroopers trek to the abandoned airfield does not go according to plan an as a result they must return to India 200 miles away on foot through murky jungles and swamps trying all the while to avoid a pitched battle with the pursuing Japanese soldiers.  Their journey back becomes a deadly game of cat and mouse with suspense and tragedy along the way.  By focusing on the often brutal aspects of combat rather than phony heroics, Objective Burma ranks among the best World War II era movies ever made.  Starring Errol Flynn. James Brown and William Prince among others.  Full screen in black and white.  Release in 1945.  Runtime 142 minutes.
