The movie, Once An Eagle was a seven-part television miniseries originally telecast from December 2, 1976 through January 13, 1977.  "Once An Eagle" tells the epic story of America in the 20th Century as related through the lives of two career soldiers, spanning both World War I and World War II.  This critically acclaimed film, based on the best-selling novel by Anton Myrer, is comparable in scope to both "Winds of War" and "War and Remembrance".  The plot centers on Sam Damon, a courageous and compassionate man who finds his true calling by leading his men in both war and peacetime.  The other central character is Courtney Massengale, a ruthless achiever who will stop at nothing to claw his way to the top in the military.  In the late days of World War I, Damon and Massengale become friends, but as time passes, their divergent personalities lead to a face-off in a classic life and death struggle of good and evil.  In the final analysis, "Once An Eagle" brings history to the forefront as the two central characters strive to fill their destinies against a backdrop of a world torn by war.  Starring Glenn Ford, Sam Elliot and Amy Irving among others.  Full screen in color.  Released in 1976.
