The film, The Story Of Mount Rushmore (America In Stone), tells the complete story of the "Four Faces" which is carved in granite in the Black Hills of South Dakota.  Mount Rushmore National Park pays homage to Presidents George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln and Theodore Roosevelt.  It is often referred to as "The Shrine of Democracy".  This video covers this amzing creation from its inception in 1923 to the final carving work in 1941.  The viewer of this video will discover how sculptor Gutzon Borglum transformed a granite mountainside into a great National Shrine dedicated to the very principles and ideals of America.  Also of interest to the viewer will be why why these four Presidents were chosen to be honored.  The story of the men who actually did the carving each day for nearly 14 years is also told in great detail.  This film combines archival footage and still photographs along with an informative narrative which helps to paint a more complete picture of this grand creation made by mankind to preserve its heritage for all future generations.  Full screen in black and white & color.  Released in 1994.  Runtime 40 minutes.
